I purchased my brand new Pulte home on March 1, 2007, moved in on March 5, and the house nearly burned down on May 3, 2007. Though my insurance company took care of me, and I have rebuilt the home with another independent builder, not a single person from Pulte has offered help or expressed sympathy. If this fire had happened at night, everyone would have perished!!

"We moved into our home in Sun City Anthem in Henderson, NV in July 2006. Pulte received high praise from friends we told about our new home......these people evidently never lived in a Pulte home. Customer service is the worst I have ever encountered. The home was built with a jacuzzi, for which I paid an exorbitant option price, after having to provide a doctor's report on why it was required. Upon final inspection, we noted there was no access panel for the tub if a plumbing problem occurred. We were told not to worry they would have the access panel installed before move in. When we moved in, it was not there. The first night in the home I was enjoying my jacuzzi until I tried shut it off and nothing happened. The only way the tub would shut off was to turn off the breaker. When I called customer service I told them there was no access panel and they said that was not a problem for their plumber. Needless to say, the first thing the plumber (if I could call him that) asked was where was the access to the piping. After 3 visits (access panel installed on 2nd visit) and my insistence that a representative of Kohler or a LICENSED plumber be sent, my tub was finally operational. I have had electrical problems, been through 3 blower motors on my air conditioning unit, had cracked ceilings, cracked bathtub and other plumbing problems. Most of the time a 20 year old customer service rep is sent to try to fix the problems. I don't believe Pulte even has licensed electricians or plumbers on their payrolls. This community of 7,000 homes has had a class action suit on Kitec plumbing defects, and just recently Pulte had to replumb for homes with Rehau plumbing. Now, the plumbing fittings they used on their newer homes, Wisbro, is proving to be defective and over 2,000 homes will have to file a class action suit to get repairs done, as Pulte says there is nothing wrong with the fittings. Evidently Pulte does not do their homework on the water content in the areas they build, resulting in corrosion in pipes and fittings. A word to the wise....DON'T BUY PULTE!!!!!! "

"I love my home's floor plan. I'm very happy in this house except for two things -- it is in Las Vegas and I don't have a pool. If I could have found this house in a community without a homeowners association, it would have been perfect. I know homeowners associations are there to keep the neighborhood up, but I don't like them anyway. It's just another way for the community to make money. I shouldn't have to pay the community or ask their permission before I make any changes to my home. Nobody helps me pay the mortgage -- when that happens then I think a person can have a say as to what happens to the house."

"The problems are not just in Arizona. I live in Las vegas in what is supposed to be an upscale golf course community. However, the quality of my home is anything but upscale. The tile is poorly done and the carpet (and it supposed to be upgraded carpet) is falling apart. We complained about the carpet and padding during the initial walk through and our representative said it would be fixed. The problems were not fixed and have only become worse. They sent an independent flooring "expert" who determined that both the carpet and padding were defective from the manufacturer. Right, and I was born yesterday. Also, our air-conditioner system has broken 3 times in 3 months. The first time it was repaired, the repairman suggested that one of my dachshunds probably chewed one of the wires and shorted the system. Since there are no exposed wires outside, one of the dogs must have super powers and flew up into the crawl space and destroyed the system. I have many more problems, too many to list. My one neighbor's home is actually sinking and of heard nothing but problems from others. I am tired of dealing with these absurd crooks. Do not let any of your friends or family buy a Pulte home."

"It seems that most of these Pulte disasters are from AZ. We bought in central FL (near Orlando). Fortunately the home quality is very good but Pulte's business practices stink. Local area management seems to be locked in a fortress surrounded by a moat with almost no contact with existing homeowners. The so-called 'HOA' is run by 3 Pulte employees with absolutely no input from real homeowners. We are told how much to pay in quarterly assessments but have no control over how our money is wasted. Pulte's dictatorship is guaranteed by the 'Declaration' (doct) until 90% of 900 homes have been "conveyed" to customers (in about 18 YEARS). Is national media attention needed to wake up Pulte? Let's do it!"

"Everyday we find something new to fix. I feel like my house is never going to be complete. Some of the problems they blame on General Electric. I hate my house and the community. They lied about things even when we bought. Nothing is as it appears with PULTE!!!!"

"MY HOUSE STINKS!! LITERALLY. When we decided to buy what we thought was a dream home, we shortly realized we were deceived. In signing our contract and disclosures we were told, "Oh, there is a water treatment facility near by and it MAY smell occasionally". OCCASIONALLY MY FOOT!! There are times when I am out walking the dogs, running back to my house to stop from puking. This smell is always around. We can't even open our windows at night to enjoy the cool spring air because we are woken up my this horrible smell. It has also been mentioned that it could be a health hazard!!! Why wasn't this disclosed up front!?! (Well, we know why.) But I am truly concerned. Since living here I have experienced severe headaches and maybe the odor is why? Is there anyone else with this problem?"

"I closed Sept of 2006. 3 Weeks after I moved in I had a line from a reverse osmosis pop out of a fitting. This flooded the whole house. The system had been running for about 2 weeks. I called pulte and they sent someone out. He opened the cabinet door and said it was not their issue, since they did not install it. I called the manufacturer of the osmosis. They said check the water pressure. The pressure was over 85psi. I called pulte and they said this was impossible. Come to find out they do not install pressure regulating valves on the houses in AZ. This is funny because every house gets them in California. Both states go by the same building codes. I asked was the pressure of my house was when the plumbing was installed. They had no record. Funny thing is that they don't even test it. Pinal county has no record of any pressure test being done by Pulte. Thanks Pulte for doing a quality JOB!!!!"

"Ever since i moved in there has been a leak in our kitchen air vent when it rains. Since it doesnt rain much here we waited to see if it happened again by then our ac warranty had ran out. We have had to replace our thermostat every year. One of our ACs had to have the motor replaced i have been in this house 4 years only. Our rugs were not installed correctly that was told to us by a professional. They are coming out at the seams. yes the seams can be seen. Having those replaced with tile."

"I live in Kansas and am currently experiencing issues with my house. It started only 28 days after moving in. My foundation was not designed, engineered or built to withstand the horrific soil conditions underneath my house. I have dedicated an entre web site to the documentation and progression, http://www.justanotherlemon.com/CCFL/pulte.htm I am making an educated guess but the reason the builder is stonewalling is that there is a statute of limitations on how long you can take to file a lawsuit or go to binding arbitration (binding arbitration is a story by itself). In the state of Kansas, it is two years. So they hem and haw, make haphazard repairs, or simply ignore you in hoping you don't know about this. Check it out for your state. Don't be bamboozled (like my dear departed grandmother used to say) and allow them to get away with this. This tactic is used by almost all of the big builders, not just this one. If you have any questions, I will be more than happy to do what I can. I have been there and done that before. "
